In the past week, one of the blog readers asked what activities could do for the first few days of class. Those days when we have new children, we do not yet know the names, and we need to somehow "grope" How are our new students.

Today I leave 5 activities that you can do, almost any age, from 2nd grade. I hope you find helpful, and when the course begins and realicéis may tell me how you go.

  1. Snowball fight.

This activity've done so much with my students in grades 5 primary and the boys and girls in college. Just you need paper and pen.

Cut the sheets in half to seize the role, and give a piece to each student. Ask them to write, English course, things like: what is your favorite food, your favorite animal, favorite color, etc. Depending on the age you can do more complex questions.

Explicadles that your sign will have to crumple the paper, make a ball and when you start the war tell snowball.

They will have to throw snowballs (the papers) each other until you tell "stop". At that time everyone will have to play a role in hand. Situate in a circle so that all you see yourself. Each will have to read aloud the role he has touched and try to discover who it is.

  1. Hot Ball.

Surely some profe you have completed this activity. You simply have to ask your students to be arranged in a circle. You start to teach them what the game. You have the ball, and you present the pass to one of your students. You can "stipulate" that everyone says three things: your name, favorite animal and favorite food, it will depend on age. Whoever has the ball is to be submitted. After a first round you can make a second round in which, when they go to pass the buck, say the name of the person to which they will pass. So going memorizing all the names.

  1. Word Clouds.

This is a great activity to do with kids in primary. Ask them to choose words that define them and say something of his personality. Once chosen the words that ask a cloud placed in a way you like, a heart, an animal, etc.

Once you may have your cloud all you can do three different activities. The first is that every child use that "word cloud" to present to their peers. Later, you can mix the clouds, distribute them to your students and ask everyone to try to find out who is the cloud that has touched.

This activity can be adapted to many other occasions, not only at the beginning of the course. You can use it for work groups of words, or to teach children the adjectives that describe a particular item.

  1. Fill the gaps.

This is also an activity that can be done with students of almost any age. Maybe with the kids in junior primary will cost more, but from 2nd I'm sure your students will love.

Give your students a role and ask them to write their name. With a bit of zeal pegad all the papers on the board, or a place to stay at its height and visible.

Put music and ask students to go touring class. Explicadles that when the music stops should approach the partner who is closer and ask about him: how old are you, when is your birthday, How many siblings do you have, pets, etc. If you believe you may find it easier information you can decide beforehand and know beforehand the information you need to get. The important thing is that, information as soon as they go to write the paper with the name of your compi, as soon as the music should sound again retracing the class, You come back until the stop, they will have to retake the same process with the closest companion.

  1. Guess what!

Each student writes on paper 5 things that define him, but it is very important not to put too many details, just a word, like this that I have prepared about me:

Slide1

When all students have your resume go out to the board one at a time showing his teammates your resume. The rest of the students have to find out what each thing is asking questions: “What is your favourite colour?", “How many brothers or sisters do you have?", “What is your favourite meal?", etc.

I hope these activities will help you to raise your classes so early course more enjoyable and fun. And that, further, They help you learn and bring you a little closer to your students.

As usual, thanks for being there.

A big hug,
