A few days ago my colleagues to Docsity They contacted me to let me come a infographic with the findings of a study on Internet use by students.
The infographic found very interesting, above all, because we all speak the use of Internet and new technologies in education but do not know exactly the data that we face. So it seemed like a great idea that they themselves who will explain these data.
¡Os dejo with Docsity! I hope you find interesting.
We decided to carry out this study since in recent years the duo formed by technology and education seem to be inseparable. What we seek with the following research is to individualize some of the characteristics of Spanish-speaking students who use the Internet to study.
Based on the Spanish-speaking students who enter the documents section of our website, we obtained the data that can be seen in the infographic.
The first important piece of information is the countries of origin of the students who use the Internet the most to study. Spain tops the list, followed by Mexico. The most curious thing about these data is that Central American countries do not appear. Maybe they still prefer the old tools to study.
On the Internet, students can access all kinds of documents, That is why we found it interesting to see which documents are most in demand. In the second graph you can see these data, headed by notes and followed by guides and exams.
In the third graph we can see from which career the students who look for material on the Internet and, as you will see, more than half are law students.
But, What hours do students connect? Taking as reference the Spanish schedule, the largest influx of students is among the 9:00am a 12:00pm.
By last, you can see which devices the students use to search for the material online. With a clear dominance of desktops and laptops.
As you can see, more and more students are looking for their support material on the Internet, and less those who go to libraries or newspaper libraries to consult reference books.
We hope these data are interesting for you, above all, to teachers when it comes to knowing the sources of information used by your students.
Thanks to Cristina for leaving us this space on her blog, Let Growing, and trust us.
Thanks to you for this interesting information! 😀
I would like to ask readers several questions based on this infographic. Do you think it is positive that students go to the internet to find information? Do your students know how to select the useful and valid information from the one that is not??
“People think that focusing means saying yes to what you focus on, but it's not like that. It means saying no to hundreds of other good ideas out there.”
