Many dads and moms who bring their kids to my classes and I discussed what they would like to catch up with English.

The main reason why they did not go to school is the time. They usually have long days and when they come home so they feel like is to spend a little while their kids. Having to leave home, go to class, etc. Les is a time that is not available. That makes will postpone learning English or any other language.

Surely you feel identified with this situation ... yet, no excuses. Love is power, and there are always ways to learn a language on your own, you just need one thing: forward.

Today, more than tools and platforms for learning languages, I want to tell you about methods. Once you decide which one suits you best, then it's time to choose the learning tool.

It is essential to choose a method that appeals to you and you see the results. This is the only way not to let, literally, two days.

  1. Repetition.

If you are a consistent person and not easily bored, This is your method!

To me, personally, I find little cash, why I do not usually use in my classes, but I am aware that it is quite common in language learning, and there are many centers that put into practice.

Basically It is to repeat over and over again a vocabulary list, or they want to learn concepts, until we remember.

According to research conducted by José León-Carrión, professor of psychology at the University of Seville, the repetition, as a learning method, It is a natural and effective way. This study focuses on the brain physiological effects that the repetition of information you want to learn.

The main problem with this technique is that ultimately lead to boring and requires a lot of discipline. How to use with the kids…! 😉

Further, generally the information is easily forgotten.

  1. Recalling practice.

East method is to read a list of vocabulary once and then try what we have learned, instead of reading the list again and again until we believe that we have left as with the previous method.

This strategy can be applied to learn almost anything, not only languages.

A study 2003, He stressed the importance of "testing" to ensure that information is really left.

Other study 2013 demonstrated how concepts are best left to those students who remembered them and "testeaban" after a certain period of time.

  1. Partnership.

From my point of view, is a learning method quite useful and effective. Generally, based learning partnership are greater and last longer. By using the senses neural connections involved in absorbing this information they are greater than those involved in other methods such as repetition.

At this point it seems interesting to mention the Cone experience Edgar Dale, to which I have already referred to some other time, but I think it reflects very well how activities should be and how it should be the learning process to be truly effective.

You see, the more senses are involved in the process, longer endure the information we are learning. Based on the experience cone Dale, repeatedly hear a vocabulary list or a series of specific concepts will endure much less in our minds that if we interact with them. This brings me to the fourth method I want to talk today.

  1. gamification.

As you know This is one of the pillars of iKidz and, from my point of view, one of the most effective learning methods.

The gamificación It is a term that comes from the English gamification, and sometimes it can be translated as gamification or juguetización.

It is basically converting activity, which in principle does not have to be fun, in a recreational activity. using techniques, elements and dynamic characteristics of the game becomes more enjoyable and try to motivate the person who is learning.

Generally, the person involved is usually rewarded by reaching certain achievements will.

This is an increasingly related to language learning method and new technologies, why more and more companies and brands that develop games and applications to learn languages based on gamificación.

I hope that among these methods, find the way that best suits you and help you learn English effectively.

If you would like to know some of the apps and tools available to, for example, please tell me the gamificación and be happy to prepare a post related to the topic.

Keep in mind, further, these learning strategies are not exclusive. In fact, if you want better results you can implement several.

Thanks for being there!

  3. The truth is that to learn a language not get in our everyday. I learned on my own, reading every day, watching programs, I see my favorite movies and TV shows in English and want to read everything I look for in English. It is getting into the daily habit that you end up thinking in English. I'm not saying that is not useful English institute, except that the learning process depends on each. It must be taken as a daily habit, think, read, writing and speaking. Only then is internalized language. So from my experience staff. A greeting,

    • Good afternoon Jhon,

I totally agree with you. English is essential to integrate our lives, but for this, academies and language centers can also help us. In fact, If the work of the center is just at the time when the student physically passes by, then it is not working as it should.

      A hug,
      Cristina
