A few days ago I read the article of Camila Alicia Ortega Hermina in Marketing on Young 11 most innovative schools in the world, and he has made me reflect.

Of the 11 this author suggests schools, none is in Spain, Should not we worry? Undoubtedly be the most innovative college that does not mean being the best academic results have, or the best prepared students out, but to be honest, it is quite related.

For my part, I wanted to analyze the characteristics that make these colleges excel over others.

Therefore, over the coming weeks, I will analyze each one of these centers, so that we know closely the characteristics that define the Schools of the future.

Ritaharju School, located north of Finland, It is one of the 11 schools which tells Ortega Hermida. In today's post, this is our protagonist school.

This school is part of Microsoft Partners in Learning, a program that Microsoft helps schools to learn and implement new technologies in order to support teaching and learning.

Ritaharju It became part of this program 2007. The community in which the school is located demanded a center to give much importance to the use of new technologies. They wanted a school that would unite environment and technology inspire future leaders. This demand led them to look for a program that will help them implement these features in its center.

These are the main features that define the model of this school:

  • The and environmental technologies are combined to be the own Students who mark their working patterns and learning.
  • Community Center. The school has a "community center" where teachers and students are welcome. This area, Free access for anyone, facilitates relationships and communication between teachers and students are much closer and fluid.
  • Open spaces and flexible learning. The center offers flexible spaces that adapt to the number of students. This offers the possibility of moving from small to large spaces depending on the activity that is to be performed. Personalize learning according to the needs.
  • Develop the skills of the XXI century. Technology is one of the great protagonists of this school. The use of new technologies offers teachers and students the opportunity to work in a much more personalized, collaborating and sharing materials through the network.
  • The technology and learning. In this regard the center technology is naturally integrated learning of the younger generation and its development. Therefore, the use of new technologies, It does that students are much more motivated to the teaching-learning process and, therefore, learn better.
  • One of the services at their disposal is Microsoft Multipoint Server. With that create workstations for students. Whether within classes, libraries or laboratories. The center supports this system giving each student a computer from a particular course and, of course, a laptop to each teacher.
  • The technology also serves fun. The technology is not only used to learn, also for fun. In the words of Director of the center "learning is best when the child is enjoying the environment in which this occurs".

CONCLUSION:

Ritaharju School currently unites essential factors in the development of children: the game, movement and new technologies. All this in an environment in which socialization and relationships between teachers and students develop naturally and nearby, and where learning spaces are characterized by flexibility and mobility.

Definitely a role model. Finns know something education, ¿no? ;D

Kisses to all,

Cristina
